![]() (Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury Detachment has a new Manager. With the retirement of Staff-Sergeant Claude Boileau, Staff-Sergeant Wayne Morris has assumed the management of the detachment responsible for policing Prescott County. Son of the Peter and Louise Morris, and father of 4, Staff-Sergeant Morris grew up in Hawkesbury. He graduated from the Hawkesbury District High School. At the University of Ottawa, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in History and Geography in 1991. He later added another bachelor’s degree in Education with a certificate from the Ontario Teachers College in 1993. Early Police Career After teaching for a year, he started his policing career with the Hawkesbury Police Service in 1994. In 1999 he joined the OPP when the Hawkesbury Police Service amalgamated with the Ontario Provincial Police. During his policing career, Staff-Sergeant Morris worked mostly as a patrol officer. He was promoted at the rank of Sergeant as a patrol supervisor in 2007. Earlier this year, Wayne was promoted to the rank of Staff-Sergeant and inherited the duties of Detachment Manager. His hard work and good work ethics will surely help Wayne in his new functions. He is a strong believer in community partnerships. “Good partnerships with the community and all its members are essential for effective policing.” Staff-Sergeant Morris adds: “I believe that officers have to be present in the community and have to work closely with all stakeholders to make it a safe place to live. We need everyone’s involvement to ensure the safety of our children and residents.”
